Baramulla, June 15 (KNO) : Despite being the oldest Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Nowshehra, the poor infrastructure has marred the healthcare system at PHC in Baramulla district. The Health center in Nowshera area of Baramulla district is functioning in rented accommodation for last a decade as the health department has failed to construct a building despite having identified land. The residents are concerned over the health center where reportedly “no patient” visits. They told KNO that the concerned department has failed them despite having available land for the construction of health center; the department has not taken a stand for it. They told KNO that since the year 2007, the health center is functioning in a private building where not even a single patient visits in a day. “We are forced to visit PHC Boniyar or district hospital, which is 16 kilometers far from the area,” they told KNO. Community Health Officer, Shafqat Geelani told KNO that they have the identified land for the construction of building for the health center, and are waiting for the orders from the higher ups for its construction. “There has not been any tender, order for the construction of building yet, however department is keen to construct building in the reachable zone in Nowshera,” Geelani told KNO. Despite several attempts by KNO, CMO Baramulla could not be reached for his comments. (KNO)
